2017…amiright? This has been the BEST and WORST year of my 32 years on earth.
A c-section was not even on my radar. My husband and I have talked about this at length as to how little we knew about c-sections because we thought there was no chance. Lo and behold a 25 hour labor, failed vacuum suctioning and we were face with an emergency c-section! It’s been 10 weeks EXACTLY since we welcomed our son, Bode James into this world.
I feel more out of the fog than I did a week ago and I’m starting to do body weighted squats…aka just did 10 this morning for the first time and was out of breath.
A few long walks per week just isn’t cutting it anymore.
Moms tell me, “Don’t rush it!”
I have basically been on bedrest watching every show that was ever invented for 7-8 weeks and I am ready to move. Not just for weight loss, but for my sanity.
You see, as a former full time fitness instructor, the couch and me have become old buddies and I haven’t told her yet, but we’re breaking up. I am not ready to say, “I’ve been trying to lose the last 10 for a good decade!” No. Not this girl.
That’s why I’m juicing tons of veggies, eating my carbs in the morning and guzzling at least 3 liters of water per day. I eat medium sized meals (was writing small, but had to be honest) and I’m trying not to go beastmode after breastfeeding. I’m eating salads again and let’s just say, they haven’t been kind to healing.
*Note to self: do not eat gas producing veggies, it will feel like your scar is expanding.
People will tell you that breastfeeding will help you lose weight, I’m not sure that’s true. Maybe for some people, but for me, that’s not the case.
Let’s get real about my mom body.
Before I was pregnant, I weighed 125 pounds. I was a fit and energetic lady with so much advice for mom’s wanting energy!
Then I got pregnant and before labor, I weighed in at a whopping 158 pounds (33 pound weight gain)! I was happy that I didn’t gain more, but never held back because I wanted a fat, healthy baby. Not a scrawny sad one.
I’m sitting here today weighing 137-138 pounds, I weigh myself every couple of days just to note progress.
That’s right, 12-13 more pounds to go until I’m pre-pregnancy J! (clicking heels!)
