What I feed my plant based 11 month old

This is my buddy boy when he was 6/7 months old. We decided to feed him like we eat. I have played with so many different food lifestyles and this May I went plant based. I don’t like labels, so I don’t call myself a vegan, I am not strict and if there was ever a time I craved animal protein, I would eat it. It hasn’t happened in the last 7 months, but if it does, I’m giving my body what it needs.

My husband Alex went plant based with me for 3 months, but he was withering away and felt like he needed to add in animal protein. At first I was like, “YOU ARE LEAVING THE TEAM.” But then I calmed down and said…”oh…I see you’re eating more bacon.” I think it smells like shit, so that’s really the only thing that annoys me. And when he makes eggs I want to gag. BLAH. The smell is rancid.

We have given Bode (our now 11 month old) essentially fruits, veggies, gluten free gains and plant based protein. On Thanksgiving he had some turkey, because I felt he should experience it, but he wasn’t a huge fan. He ate it but he didn’t get as excited as he does for other foods.

I mostly work from home and cooking from home is very important to our fam. I like to know what is in my food and I like to feel good. It’s as simple as that. 

These meals are SOOOO EASY! I feed Bode what I eat so I just double batch it.

BREAKFAST

  • Oatmeal with almond butter and cinnamon
  • Gluten free pancakes with banana and super greens powder
  • Quinoa with coconut milk and cinnamon and a sprinkle of ginger
  • Mashed Butternut squash with hemp seeds
  • Mashed Avocado with hemp seeds
  • Scrambled eggs with Spinach (I know this isn’t plant based but I worry about his B12 and I don’t want to give him a supplement, so I feed him scrambled eggs a few days a week. When I feel more comfy with him taking a supp or getting a b12 shot, we can switch to that).

SNACKS

  • Banana (literally he eats the whole thing)
  • Avocado (he eats the ENTIRE thing)
  • Blueberries (organic or wild)
  • Apple sauce (he lovesssss it)
  • Cucumbers
  • Satsumas
  • Oranges
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Watermelon
  • Mango
  • Pomegranate

LUNCH/DINNER

  • Black beans with rice (gluten free + vegan)
  • Mashed sweet potatoes with hemp seeds
  • Mashed yams + carrots + spinach with lentils
  • Smoothie: blueberries, dates, coconut milk, SunWarrior protein powder
  • Acai bowl with fresh fruit

DRINKS

  • Filtered water
  • Coconut water

My New Day Northwest Starring Debut!

After a very slow start to the year (recovering from a c-section) the last few months have zoomed like a train without any stops!!!

I am SOOOO grateful for Joseph, the producer from New Day Northwest on King 5. He sent me an email and 5 days later I was showing Margaret, the host of New Day Northwest, how to make chocolate mint protein balls! WHAT A RIDE!

Here’s your backstage pass to everything I did beforehand to get ready for my 8 minutes of fame. 😉

First of all – I had to get a new e-book cover created because I wanted it to be much prettier than my previous design…there she is below!

Once that was finished, I sent the recipe guide with this cover over to Office Depot where they created a gorgeous looking spiral notebook like the one you see pictured above. All of my detoxes for 2018 will include spiral notebook print outs and the Winter Beauty Detox Retreat will include the winter detox in the VIP swag bags, (they are so sick).

Then Bode man and me went shopping for cute dishes I could use on set but Homegoods didn’t have much of a selection and I was running out of time so I got the holiday looking dishes. When I arrived at the studio and showed the producer my dishes she said, “Oh! I didn’t know you were doing a holiday segment.” To which I replied, “I’m not….” HAHAHHA

Before I left for Seattle, I headed to Jax Salon + Spa to get my hair washed and styled, because there was no time to do it myself and I wanted to look fancy! So Stephenie, the master stylist, worked her magic and I left feeling like a beauty! THANKS STEPHENIE!

THE MORNING DEBUT!

After one of the worst nights of “sleep” aka Bode woke up every hour and a half because he had a stuffy nose, I finally dragged myself out of bed at 7am and said to myself, “TODAY IS THE DAY YOU WERE MEANT TO SHINE!!!!!!”

I said goodbye to my sweet Bode man, who hung out with my folks and jammed out to hip hop on my way to the studio. Well….jammed out 50% of the time and had a fake conversation to myself in a British accent the other 50%.

While I was unloading my bags on bags on bags, my SUPER HERO HUSBAND who just got off of a 48 hour shift surprised me in the parking garage!!!!!!! He took over bag duty and allowed me to carry the light ones and profess my undying love for his help and surprise!

We had some fun in the studio before air time and then it was time…

This experience has inspired me to do more, think bigger and reach out to more local news stations and radio programs. Doing this segment built my confidence because I actually knew what I was talking about. Know what I mean? I was talking about holistic health, my passion and my career.

Three best juices to start drinking today!

If we’re homies on Instagram, you’ve seen how obsessed with juicing I’ve been lately.

These juices are a delicious mixture of fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables, and will boost your weight loss, fat loss and reduce cellulite. 

They will also help clear your mind and improve focus.

  • 1 pink grapefruit, peeled
  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 1 bunch of mint
  • 1 head romaine lettuce

  • ½ cup pineapple
  • ½ medium cucumber
  • 1 shot of wheatgrass

Wheatgrass accelerates digestion, improves mental processing, satisfies cravings, and reduces hunger.

It’s a great juice to drink before meals, you will eat less overall, and what you do eat will be processed more quickly.

  • 5 kale leaves
  • ½ cup pineapple
  • 1 orange
  • ½-in piece of ginger

Pineapple is packed with vitamins and minerals, including thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, folate, pantothenic corrosive, magnesium, manganese, and potassium.

The kale in this juice provides a great source of vitamin K, which is crucial for bone and blood health. Kale delivers more iron per calorie than red meat.

The key to a more efficient metabolism is to provide your body with easy to digest foods that will trigger your body’s natural functions.
